CMS architecture

"Astron SiteManager" is a web content management system for ASP.NET. It provides both friendly user interface as well as flexible development platform for web developers. The following image describes the overall architecture:

The whole site content is stored in a database. For managing and editing the site content an administrative interface is used. To show the site content to the users uses the site patterns.

Site administrative interface is web application, which can be configured using web.config file.

Site content is controlled by the site Administrator (he has the full access) and the content manager (content manager can have an access to edit only the certain menu items). Site pattern is a set of pages, adjusted under design of a concrete site to give individuality to the site. You can also use special CMS controls on the site pages to get site with rich functionality.

Site patterns adjustment is usually realized by the web-developer. Here are usually used common HTML, ASP.NET and special CMS tags.
